The GP14 VELO is the latest design of glider for the new 13.5 meter FAI racing class. It combines a retractable electric self-launching 25KW motor with a high performance glider with best glide L/D 45.
The designer Grzegorz Peszke has incorporated new aerodynamic designs into the GP 14 by using the latest 3D tools and methods of modelling. Uncompromised aerodynamic features are integrated to the elliptical shaped wings and horizontal tail, as well as the most efficient and span-variable airfoils
Available in two fuselage sizes – standard (E) and slim (SE), to increase the flying surfaces and reduce drag. It offers incredible performance, with best glide L/D = 45 and Vne = 145 knt, wing loading 32 - 60 kg/m2. Making this a very capable package for both skilled pilots participating at world level competitions and for users who prefer cross-country or leisure flying.
The production technology is based on the best carbon-epoxy composite materials commercially available, securing unmatched lightweight and strength of the construction. The glider’s structure is also high temperature resistant, which allows to offer a wide range of interesting or custom exterior colour schemes.
This glider utilises a pylon operated motor system. This has been calculated to give less overall drag when stowed and with an erection time of 5 seconds and minimal frontal area to the pylon this traditional system offers the best results for the VELO.
The glider has started its test flight program and we hope to report more details soon.
